The New Microsoft File Transfer Manager is a Pain in the A**

Dear Microsoft,
The New Microsoft File Transfer Manager is a Pain in the A**!
Sincerely,

I am sure any potential kinks in the new FTM are exacerbated by the exceptional hammering the servers are experiencing downloading Vista. As I watch my transfer rate crawl to 35KB/sec or sometimes stop altogether, I can't help but wonder if a BitTorrent-style approach from Microsoft might have been a nifty inclusion for releases like this.

I've put a bug on Connect: https://connect.microsoft.com/feedback/ViewFeedback.aspx?SiteID=4&FeedbackID=43943
Basically the upload percent counter goes up 10x to much, so it ends up being 1000% at the end of it... it's just a bit of a pain!

It looks like the new FTM is having issues with my Windows One Care Live Firewall. I turned the Firewall Off and it is now downloading normally. I apoligize for the Foul Language.

I wouldn't say it's a bug because I can't know what's committed functionality. But I think there would be much more use of this revolutionary download software if it was actively trying to re-establish the link. Once something goes wrong, it comes to the "Interrupted" state and then a human intervention necessary to continue the process. With the whole intelligence attempt of Vista it looks a bit odd.

foolishly I obliged

No kidding.
Would you upgrade any other download manager in the middle of a download? Why treat this one differently?

Windows Vista
